Compare two texts, line by line

The Text Diff Checker on SavyTools highlights what changed between two versions of a text. Removed lines are shown in red, added lines in green, and unchanged lines are left plain. You can switch between a side-by-side view and a single inline view, and no text is uploaded.

How to use it

Paste the original text in the first box and the new text in the second box, choose Side-by-side or Inline, and press Compare texts. Use Swap texts to reverse the comparison, or Clear to start again.

Tips

The comparison is line by line, so a small word change inside a long line will highlight the whole line. For the clearest result, keep one sentence or paragraph per line when you can. Check the summary line for a quick count of added, removed and unchanged lines.

Frequently asked questions

Is my text uploaded? No. The comparison runs in your browser.

What is the difference between the views? Side-by-side shows the original and new texts next to each other. Inline shows one combined list with plus and minus markers.

Does it compare word by word? No. This checker compares whole lines, which keeps results fast and easy to read.

Can I compare code? Yes. Paste code in both boxes and the changed lines will be highlighted.
